Three days ahead of Assange's extradition appeal in London NetFlix USA is programming -probably by a coïncidence!- the broadcast of a terrible 2013 documentary about Assange and WikiLeaks titled 'We Steal Secrets'. Besides the fact that the documentary itself is grossly obsolete, it contains many elements that are pieced together to deceive and pave the way to the criminalisation of Assange and WikiLeaks.

More on the Netflix smear piece by Caitlin Johnstone:

This gross propaganda operation not only shows that the US needs some help in making their web of lies about Assange stick together, it means we have a role to play in countering it.

If one lesson has been learned from WikiLeaks, is that truth, when presented in an un-deniable way, repeated often enough, and made impossible to censor, will always win over lies!

“You have to start with the truth. The truth is the only way that we can get anywhere. Because any decision-making that is based upon lies or ignorance can't lead to a good conclusion.” - Julian Assange

Here is a curated list of documentaries that tell the REAL story of Assange and WikiLeaks. They all have in common to 1/ be the work of journalists who did extensive research and checked their facts 2/ be much much more recent than Alex Gibney's hit job.

Watch the documentaries playlist:

These documentaries are hosted on PeerTube, a federated/decentralized platform that is outside of the influence of the big commercial centralized US platforms, out of reach of their data collection and of their censorship.

So far the list contains:

Upon the release of the movie in 2013, WikiLeaks published an annotated version of the script of the documentary. It is at the very least a useful tool to understand how vicious are the attacks nested in the documentary:

The annotated version is also available in the form of a subtitle text file, in case you want to download the movie outside the realm of NetFlix…

An ongoing (October 2021) mini-series of exclusive interviews with John Shipton, Julian Assange's father, telling the story of Julian and WikiLeaks in a wonderful, relaxed and lyrical way:
